OSC Membership Policy Update - Nov 2025

Effective January 1 2026, monthly prorating will pause.
posted on Nov 25, 2025

The Ontario Society of Chiropodists (OSC) is committed to maintaining a membership structure that is fair, transparent, and sustainable. After careful review, and based on recommendations, we are updating our membership prorating policy.

Effective January 1st, monthly prorating will pause.
While most Ontario health professional associations do not offer prorating, OSC will continue to provide one annual pro-rated option on April 1st at 50% of the annual fee for the balance of our membership year which runs October 1 to September 30. This ensures fairness and consistency while welcoming new members mid-year.

Now is the perfect time to join or renew:

  • Annual Conference – April 2026: Be part of our landmark gathering, shaping the future of chiropody in Ontario.
Free Continuing Education Webinars: Expand your knowledge and skills with new sessions included in your membership.
Unified Advocacy: Stand with your colleagues as we advance scope, recognition, and professional excellence.

We appreciate your understanding and ongoing commitment to strengthening our profession.

Together, we continue to build a strong, unified voice for chiropody in Ontario.

In service to our members and our profession,

The Board of Directors
Ontario Society of Chiropodists

FAQ – Membership Policy Update

1. Why is OSC discontinuing monthly prorated memberships?
Monthly prorated memberships created administrative complexity and uneven benefit distribution. Moving to a single annual pro‑rated option simplifies administration and ensures fairness. This policy change is consistent with the broader professional practice in other regulated health professions.

2. What is the new pro‑rated option?
Each year on April 1st, new members may join at 50% of the annual membership fee for the balance of the membership year (October–September).

3. What happens between January 1 and April 1?
As recommended, prorating will pause as of January 1. Members joining during this period will enroll at the full annual rate. The only pro‑rated option will be available on April 1.

4. When does this change take effect?
Monthly prorated memberships will no longer be available starting January 1, 2026. The new April 1 pro‑rated option will be introduced immediately thereafter.

5. What happens if I currently have a prorated membership?
Your membership will remain valid until its scheduled expiration on September 30. On October 1, you can renew at the full rate or renew after April 1 at the pro-rated rate.

6. Will this affect the cost of membership?
No. Annual membership fees remain unchanged. The April 1 pro‑rated option is simply a reduced rate for mid‑year enrollment.

7. Does the April 1 pro‑rated option include all member benefits?
Yes, pro‑rated members receive access to OSC programs, services, and advocacy. However, members who join under the April 1 pro‑rated option are not eligible for the discounted member rate for the Annual Conference occurring within that same membership year. To qualify for the discounted conference rate, individuals must hold a full annual membership active prior to April 1.

8. Are student memberships affected by this change?
Students: Membership remains free year‑round and is not affected by this change.

9. How does this benefit members?

  • Simplified renewal and billing
  • Clear, predictable enrollment options
  • Stronger financial stability for OSC, enabling expanded member services such as free continuing education webinars and our continued discounted membership rate for our annual conference
